Stop Chewing on Wood A great tip. Stop your horses from chewing on barns and fence rails. Use a bar of soap. A gal at feed store told me this the other day when I went to buy products to stop horse from chewing up trim on barn. She said wipe edges with a bar of soap. IT WORKED! Also now they do not chew on any of the wood because they think it will all taste like the soap.
